Flu Season Is Here: Know the Early Signs

Flu season got an early start this year and is already here! Knowing the early signs can help you act quickly.

Most of us recognize the flu by its classic symptoms: fever, chills, body aches, and fatigue. But this season in the Bay Area, many people are reporting something different at first: digestive upset, diarrhea, and a dry cough, with the familiar fever, chills, aches, and fatigue following a day or two later.

The best protection is wearing a mask, along with good handwashing and consuming vitamin A and C rich foods to support your respiratory system.

One of my favorite ways is by drinking a combination of organic carrot juice with the juice of one fresh squeezed organic lemon. Drink once to twice per day. It is also important to hydrate well since the air is dry. And of course, increasing sleep is another way to boost our immune system.

Now is also a great time for an acupuncture tune-up. Acupuncture helps keep your immune system strong and supports your emotional and mental well-being during a demanding time of year.

Listen to your body this season and book your tune-up appointment!
