Acupuncture & Acupressure
Based on medical practices that originated in China more than 5,000 years ago, acupuncture and acupressure are ancient techniques designed to restore the flow of energy or qi (pronounced "chee") throughout the body, thereby alleviating painful symptoms and promoting good health. How do acupuncture and acupressure techniques work? In the most basic of terms, the human body has a meridian system that controls the flow of energy to the central nervous system and major organs. In certain points of the body, two muscles overlap, creating "valleys," or intersection points for energy flow. Like electrical currents running through a home, this energy may be turned on, off or even be short-circuited. If these valleys become surged or blocked, health problems will most likely result.

Dr. Wonson applies pressure to strategic points along affected valleys, replenishing and balancing the flow of energy throughout the body. These points are stimulated by applying pressure with the hand and fingers (acupressure), or by the gentle insertion of very fine needles (acupuncture). Dr. Wonson specifically selects key pressure points according to the individual patient and required treatment. Both acupuncture and acupressure are entirely painless procedures, and only disposable needles are used, which are promptly and properly discarded after a single use.
